the training effect

thats what the scientists call it when your body responds to the training load, in case you didnt know. i didnt do 4 hrs today i ran out of time, and energy. i did 3 hrs on the scalpel up around the zoo to city creek and some bobsled action mixed it. that bike hauls asssss. i just finished 2 weeks of training load 41 hrs in 12 days with 2 rest day. i like the 3-1-3 format. thats 3 days on one day off 3 on again. it works good for me. i have not ridden the trails for over a week and i can tell im way faster on the climbs. today was like this: slow but strong, low heart rate, low breathing rate, kind of tired but i had a lot of power and the climbs just motored by with seemingly no effort. im am already getting ready to race saturday. i think it will be a good one. for sure im not super fast like bg or jones but compared to 3 weeks ago its a big improvement. hope it keeps getting better. the key races are just a few weeks away.

maybe i'll do the 12 hrs in park city with someone on a duo team. maybe bart the beagle.

looks like slowran is back in town

AKA CIPO, THE LION KING. i heard he might change his name to vinohran, or ohran-o-kurov. i still think its slow-ran.
back off a tour de aids ride in cali. now he can pay me the big bucks i got comin. then i can take him out for an ass whoopin up to guardsman.
4 hours on the grill today. i better decide where im goin. it looks hot so i think i'll work on my tan today and round out this 20 hr week in style. cache valley joyride on saturday. looks good for some shreddin.

the pink dude at rubios

i used to look like this.

man this guy gets it done. hes all over town. i wonder how many pink out fits he has?

then i bagged this huge buck at the cemetery. Git-R-done.

ride it like you stole it

today i pinned it from the gun. i got it strung out a bit but thats about it. then i got in like 5 good breaks and blew up each time, only to have the guys sit up in the wind. so i kept going. ALI was helping but we didnt make it happen. i would rather solo in then sprint, since i suck at sprinting anyway. oh well i made them hurt and im sure the victories are just around the corner so i will keep riding alot and not worry about it.

im getting my new cross bike soon and i cant wait to jump some barriers at wheeler.
there is a new king in town.

just do it

i did 3 hrs yesterday. now i guess i will race again at the hobo park. i feel better than yesterday. i didnt ride friday so i was kind of stale. maybe we will get to see some crashes or something cool to break up the monotony called crit racing.

valverde kicks ass

the next alley cat i put on is going to have 57 stops and you might look like this when youre done.

i found this pic of ATRAIN before he shaved his head bald last year.

cat 3 pack fill

ya pretty much what i expected. 40 guys riding around in circles for an hour. nobody fast enough to get away. including me. 30 guys sprinting for 1st. i got no snap. 3 years of no racing or RMR's will do that to a guy. its a good hard race, took some flyers and it got me pegged. then i rode around for a few laps and cruised for something around 20th. i dont care about the place i just wanted to check out a crit and see how it went. maybe i'll do the other one tomorrow. i got no snap so maybe i should fix that. im out for 2 more hrs then well see what happens in the morning. my grandpa is 79 so im gonna head out for some food and then ride home. i wonder if ATRAIN is tired from pulling the whole pack around all day. he does give a good draft.
i guess jones and bg continued to take all the prize money at DV. at least ALI and racer are still cat 3's. just like back in the day. oh ya and nobody hit me with a steak in the face.

"to give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift"
steve prefontaine

kday bagged the pink dude on 300 east but didnt dare get proof.

watermelons for 3 squares a day

im going to the crit in a few hours. hope they will let me race. and hope this doesnt happen to me.

the mop wants to know about the watermelons. i say hit, then hit it harder. i like them so its no biggy. its not like drinking cytomax or some crap in a can.

hurt locker

oh dear sweet lord what am i thinking? riding with norm up to alta? have mercy on my trembling body. i thought i knew what the hurt locker was about. but now i really know. spencer kicked my ass, norm worked me over. i need to figure out why i do this stupid thing like riding uphill. downtown to alta, then up millcreek got cold and rainy at mile 7 then up emigration. 5.5 hrs in the torture chamber. now i get to eat the other half of that melon. im not riding tomorrow im not sure i will be able to walk. yesterday i was feelin like basso, climbin home in the big ring. today i barely made it in the 34 cog and felt like walking. i guess thats what happens when you get paid the big bucks.

i wonder if norm is tired.

sly shreds it for saltcitycouriers.com

maybe i should of went to rmr instead.25 or so people showed up, its a good time. they should have these every week.

i say to win an alley cat you need to make the route in your head first before you take off and waste time, elevation and miles zig zagging around town. 8 or 9 stops from 11th ave to 24th south 1700 east to 900 west took 56 mins and thats a 17 min win over 2nd. first prize was this bottle and a trek frame, hell ya.

im donating it to the drunks at saltcitycouriers.com. too bad ATRAIN didnt race, but here he is at the jackalope getting wasted trying to bury his sorrows.

im riding home now 3 hrs shammy time and 3 more tomorrow. 666 is almost over, the city didnt blow up so thats cool with me.

T minus 1 hour

how to not get a ticket

over the past year i have been pulled over by the police about 3 or 5 times for stupid things like reckless driving, going 65 in a 35, running red lights and stop signs. you know, the usual law benders.

no not really but for things like parking in the wrong area by the meter maid and highway patrol for improper lane changes and gay crap like that. i am telling you this because i found out a way to not get a ticket and its worked 3 times in a row. you see the cops and law enforcement are ego maniacs and power hungry. so if you dont give them attitude and dont lie about the obvious, like what you were doing wrong then usually and for 3 times in a row for me they let me go with a warning. like last night i parked on 200 south main in a no parking zone it was 8pm and i thought i could get away with it for 5 mins. so i was wrong, the lady drives up and gives me a parking ticket. i go out and see her, not mad just saying oh i screwed up. she says didnt you see the signs? i said ya i did but i tried to get away with it. shocked she does a double take and says wow someone didnt try to lie there way out of it. im like, aaaaaaa ya i just messed up. so she says im gonna throw this ticket away because you are so honest. im just a little angel you know.

so next time you see the cops or some other jackass dont give them attitude and own why you are there. they might give you a warning because they like not to be lied to and have their ego stroked. even in small doses that doesnt seem like ass kissing.

5 hrs around pc guardsman loop

ok now im tired. blown, wasted, shredded. you get the idea. the guard road is still closed and thats good thing. i dont want to breath dust for 20 mins as each truck passes me. its snowy as you can see and muddy. even the paved side going down to brighton is pretty deep. i was dicin up parleys with this over loaded 18 wheeler. we were hammering at a steady 12 mph. i dropped him and he was pissed. im gonna go chow, then chill then get a rub down tomorrow and chill some more. i wonder what bobby is talking about?

eric and bart...east side millionaires

well the dynamic duo cleaned the clocks yesterday. a raleigh sandwich with spannring in between. bg sampled the local pines with his head but kept on truckin with a 3rd. now hes all stiff and walking around like an old man. jones just clocks em when the trail tilts up and thats all she wrote. my prediction was spot on, with a jones 4 minute win. i should be a booky, with that kind of handicap.

now these guys are hot tubbin it, jones is livin it up, right about 5 houses up the street with susy and bg gets to chill with the wife and baby with a sunday afternoon trailer ride. later im sure the grill will be fired up and they will be mackin on the deck enjoying the cool mtn air.

as for me?
ya im out in the heat tryin to catch up on lost form from years ago. today im goin out with a bang. im not tired yet so bring it. 1pm to 6pm im sure it will take me. slc to pc up parleys hit deer valley up to guardsman then down to sandy. that should blow me up for the week and well see how long it takes im hittin 22hrs now. so as you know im still lookin for some endagered or undiscovered species and i will chime in later tonight if i make it back in time for supper.
i wonder if ATRAIN will figure out the right way to get a date.
peace out

the power of water melon

i have been chowing the melons. its good for 2 reasons. its full of water and makes me full its just sweet enought so i dont want gatorade or some other crappy sweet drinks. i chowed it all yesterday and today with not much else. in 96 i ate it for 3 weeks and lost 15 lbs with ease. hopefully it still works so now i need more melon and pineapple. screw powdered recovery drinks with 100 ingredients and stick to natures menu of recovery foods.

i made it up to brighton and looks like lots of snow, so i didnt get to ride catherines pass on my road bike but thats a good thing.
3 hrs tomorrow with sean and norm and thats the 20 hr week. watch out tuesday night im bringin my big bag of pain.
norm just told me he got 3rd at the state RR today. i better keep climbing. snowbird is in 2 months.
i wonder if climb-um jones kicked everyones ass today.

dog lake on a road bike

im brushing up on some lost cross skills. theres a bit of snow up millcreek, alot of downed trees but no people. thats the good thing about the millcreek gate, its closed until 4th of july. this keeps all the lazy ass' off the road and trails. you know the idiots that drive clear the F up the canyon just to ride the 4 mile trail to dog lake then call it a day. what a freakin waste of time. ride time 45 mins. drive time 2 hrs. well we have a month to ride the road until the morons get there.
tomorrow is up to brighton, around 4 hrs in the sun. then im hittin the pool over at the millets to get burned some more. remember sunscreen causes cancer not the sun. i wont and never have put that poison on my skin. use a hat if you dont want the rays not some toxic chemicals.

oh ya and i keep seeing jon baker out riding alot. hes has cancer and some surgeries over the past few years and keeps hammering. hope he kicks it. he's got to do the www.thee100.com again.

jones should win sundance by 3 to 5 mins. thats why they call him climb-um.
