detonation

this was me today, 30 mins into a fairly easy pace. no energy and low heart rate. time to rest. i might be over trained a bit, so there is no use fighting the body. when it says done, im done.

i rode around the goose for 2 hrs at a snails pace, blown and dizzy from the past 10 days of riding.
i need a few days off, its nice down here but im leaving town now.

perceived exertion vs slow or fast passing of time.

the other day the 2 hr ride was effortless and passed like 20 mins. today 2 hrs felt like 5 hrs.
when youre having fun the time flies. i guess its true.

good company no matter who makes time fly. this year i spent time with people i liked a lot and people i hated some times.

the difference is amazing and i dont get time but thats how it goes.

some weeks felt like a day, some weeks felt like years.
i didnt sleep much last night, must be a few factors. my motivation today was low and i had to stop at wendys for some salty fries and a coke.
that seems to help, salt, grease and sugar.

we rode some off shoot of the goose, like the southwest rim loop. its a trail nobody knows about. its primitive and hard to find. twisty up and down i bet you dont know what the hell im talking about.

white line fever yaa

ragin new years eve bash in st. george tonight

ya so i bet you heard about the gay early new years eve parties here in st george. we gotta go hit up the festivities, 2 parties in 2 nights. i guess its good for something. tonight the fake parties, tomorrow in vegas where the real party gets down.

how stupid is this pre new years, its really gay.

anyway im wasted and feeling the past 10 days of hammering. today was another 3.5 hrs on the mtn bike. me and bz road over to hurricane, met up with the wonder pony, bobby, newby and swatch and were going to ride goulds. but the wind was kickin so we flipped it back to st george. drove back to the barrel roll trail. this new trail is over in santa clara and over looks ivins up on a mesa, its a good 1 track with some tech. flow and big ring power climbs. about 45 mins of sweet new 1 track. thanks to the blm for making it.
nice trail.
then hooked up the stucki to bloomington. 3.5 hrs and im tired.

tomorrow is gooseberry, i hope the wind is gone and snow melted. if anyone is around and wants to go be over at the trail by 10am. we are rippin it up so dont be late.

party on, 2007 is going to be a break through.

last 10 days 30 hrs shammy time.
3 more days and im on a 4 day break.

an evening with the god father

so bz, sara and bobby want to interview me, keep hitting reload and the question answers will appear. if you are reading this later than tonight it will be done and you can just enjoy the entertainment.

prime time aka prime rib is prime time entertainment 24/7

bz: would you say you felt more like a tiger or leopard in the lava rock looking for golf balls?
cf: more like a FOX

sw: how do you make use of your cunning ability?
cf: something specifically? it could be anything? Just push the big ring... yaaa!

sw: what race gets $100 bill handouts? and what race
cf: a: i have always wanted to do it. Not sure if they would take it. The top guys are so focused that they don't even care. If it was announced before the race, then maybe they would grab it.
b: RMR on the hairpin or near the finish line when they are going even faster.

bobby fresh: which one would you be: Katie Compton, Georgia Gould or Genneveve Jensen?
cf: why did you pick those three? Probably the cyclocross chick..

sw: if you could be like sw, bobby or bz, who would it be?
cf: probably you

cf: that 'cross chick can rip. the others are ugly or a doper

bz: favorite top three to people to ever ride with?
cf: dang, this is hard. Chucky is pretty fun. Julie was pretty fun. Matt Ohran. Sorry, you guys are up there.

bz: have you ever raced naked at Mt Snow?
cf: no. have you?
bobby: is the Mt Snow a good or bad naked?
cf: bad. but i'd like to see you do it.
sw: so when is the roadie to Mt Snow??

bz: do you have a song in your head when you shred?
cf: um, yea, it's different all of the time. how 'bout "Master of Puppets" that's pretty cool. What ever is playing on the iPod.
cf: this one says hyper titanium...the core is titanium, the golf ball i just found.

bobby: you'd rather be swatch and you would like to see bz do the naked VT crit... what are you trying to say??
sw: he'd feel my boobs while watching bz do the naked crit
cf: no, i wasn't going to say that. yea, process of elimination.

bz: what is the worst thing about ebay?
cf: oh god. probably two things: it costs too much and the people are really picky.

bz: how is the jasper stone and how is the bombarbment?
the jasper stone blocks electromagnetic chaos and saves the cells from damage and overloaded rebuilding. i dont need more trouble than i can handle. thank you.
get the jasper stone is on my links under you need this.

bz: do you have a SS#?
cf: i have a fake one..

bz: favorite place to slay the dh?
cf: oh yea, that's pretty good. i like dry creek and millcreek and around town. dog lake, desolation. today, that trail was pretty good. moab there is poison spider. solitude is pretty good. race courses, deer valley sucks pretty much, the race course. Lots of trails of good trails in pc.

sw: most gratifying thing about racing
cf: beating people. long answer - preparing a long time for something and if it goes good, that's pretty cool and if it goes bad it is pretty frustrating.

cf: do you think they are going to have that snow race? the frozen hog, and the ice race in pc

bz: best race?
cf: um. oh yea. 2003. Tour of the Gila, stage 5. It was like when you race and you feel like super man all of the time and you can just tell that people are hurting bad and i was going to drop a bomb.

bobby: who is the person you have liked competing against the most
cf: I have different people. I guess Eric and Bart. If I could keep up with them it would be better. Now you see them for a mile and then you don't see them for two hours.

bz: what the fuck goes on in your head most of the time?
cf: i'm hungry.

sw: what is your theory on life? do you have a mantra?
cf: yea, i do. it's kinda like what ever feels good or what seems good to do now, 'cause i don't know what is going to happen after that. just feeling it out. if you are in ny and have to get to la, you don't need to see the whole road. you only have to see what is in front of you.

sw: what is your first act as the godfather?
cf: it has already been done. it all started back in 1996 when I had 23 Icup and Decker Dash races from June to August. I didn't lose any of them. 2 or 3 races a week.

bz: what is your 24 hr twinkie consumption record. oh its about 18 or 20 of a 24 pack. one day i just said F it ate like 10 in row then had 8 more.
it didnt make me sick but i felt weird after.

another day another trail

today seemed short compared to the last weeks rides. only 2 hrs. it feels like 30 mins. no effort or time lag. just a day to ride and rip the trail. so heres the current crew in dixie. swatch, bz, bobby and me. tomorrow is the rim trail. thats a good one, should be nice again. sunny blue skies, mid 50's.

time for a burrito and a movie,

oh ya i got to collect some pro tour balls over at sunbrook, the condo is right off a lava rock hazard and the old fogies are blowin every drive. the hazard is loaded with prime balls.

i bet kyle g is drooling.

bz wanted me to post this pic, i dont know why. its a partly frozen pot of chicken soup im tryin to melt down, its too hot to eat but its frozen.
you know what im sayin?

2 a days=70 miles

i rode mtn and road today, with claw, racer and chucky. we did about 4.5 hrs so check out the gps on racers page,

2 hrs on the road in the wind then 2.5 hrs rippin some trail with a sweet tail wind.
im hungry so im going to a get burrito,
team rico, down in the sun till tuesday, bring your mtn bike we are shredding trails all weekend with bz and saffel

ya, that walmart thing is kind of weird. i had to go spend a gift card. every time i pass that store it gives me the chills.
i heard that dead people hang out there and try to suck your energy.
stay away from walmart, i saw a devil there once, in slc, she was ugly and scared me.
atrain says his bday is 818, mine is 810, not to be confused with the 801 my home town.
i was at the golf course with the claw, i was going to hit some balls on the driving range but they recognized me from 1991 when i got banned from that course when i used to swim in the lake and collect the balls.,, TIT-LEEE-IST
so they said go away, today i had a chip shot over at green springs. truckers condo is 10 feet off the par 3.
yaa
we headed out early for a 5 hr road ride down to mesquite, but the wind out on the prarie was hittin 50mph, so we flipped it back to washington and the wind was gone, then after a few hrs on the road we traded in the skinny tires for the fat. ripped through town over to green valley and the barrel trail with jumps and the bear claw poppy had a sweet tail wind and the scalpel was hookin it up.

we passed some dudes out there it was like 50 degrees today, he had a full on face mask like in the arctic.

plus he was going uphill. i wonder if he is retarded.

10 ways to waste a day away

ya so today it rained and it was cloudy all day. i decided not to ride even 10 mins. you know since i did like 18 hrs in 6 days, i thought it was nice to waste the day doing pretty much nothing.
so heres a list of crap that passes time.

1 watch tv
2 go to walmart
3 go to a movie
4 go to the bear paw
5 go to bajio grill
6 go to the golf course with the claw
7 go to fedex
8 go to a bike shop and look at stuff
9 read crap on the internet
10 eat more food

you can call it what you want, wasted day, resting. chilling, whatever but im in the mode of doing something so it feels like a wasted day.

thats about it. tomorrow if its nicer they want to go to mesquite the long way. thats like 5 hrs. at least i wont be tired and the glycogen will be loaded.

the truck driver went out in the rain, over by laa vaaaarkin got his tire slashed with a razor blade.

that sucks, cold wind rain and a flat.

here is some 818 crap im talkin about, maybe once you guys hear it from sly you might see it every where. the other places i see it are license plates, odometer readings, book page numbers and at 3 or 4 jobs i have had my employee number was 818

its not a coincidence. its the mark of the beast.

from the mind of a mtn bike racer

the coolest thing about massive fuck ups is that with a relatively short amount of time, they aren't such a big deal. kinda like a craving for chocolate. or being banned by usada, or some lame ass roadie dropping you in a local cross race b/c you have rot gut. he's not going anywhere, watch him flail in the next corner, laugh as you catch him, and even though you're hurting and not even trying, lead into the next corner and surely you'll exit it alone and as long as you don't fuck up yourself, he's history. people are pretty durable.

7 more days

i got 7 more days on vacation.
today some fresh meat arrived in dixie. chucky, bucky and racer. the gibson brothers.
me and chucky rode around hurricane, la vaaarkin loop. hammering the big ring. plus some other roads. i got to hear his stories of the past years girl friends., and how screwed up they all are. yes trucker, i know how it goes.

the claw called, hes in town. time to ride road bikes. so we did that.

he wanted to stop and check out these free cars on the side of the road.
3.5 hrs on the street machines. im not tired yet and i have lots of energy so im not resting until next week.

time to go to the movies.

oh ya after next week i got a trip planned to madison wisconsin jan 12th..
i've been to this swap for 2 years and its good, i dont know why, its cold and its in the country. but the deals flow like the colorado.
i hear there is good riding out there this time of year. bring the tire spikes and ride on some frozen lakes.
plus i got a place to stay in tucson so im going down to ride in the 70's from about the 20th to feb 1st,...
a place to stay, an almost free plane ticket and sun, how can you go wrong?
yaaaaaa

happy kwanzaa

happy kwanza everyone

maybe i will do 8 hrs today, maybe not that is a bit much. more fun in the sun today anyway. everyone have a blast where ever you are. good times will be had by all. maybe i'll hook up with skylers dad, hes old slow and retired. bucky is in town, bz and swatch.

rain snow or shine.

time to put in the hours. 20 more this week. yaaaaaa

Monday, December 25, 2006

warmest day of the week

well its monday so that was easy. 60 degrees with full on sunshine. i got in 3 more hours of trail shredding. thats 15 hrs in 5 days.
remember i dont walk, i hop stuff.

7 more days of good weather then i hope it gets near 70 in the slc or im moving to san diego for 2 months. yaaaaaa
i scored a bunch of swag and im running out of movies to see. riding and watching movies only takes up so many hours per day.
oh ya, if anyone is into numerology let me know about this, i see 818 every where, everyday. 818 for the last 15 years of my life. i have been told its about abundance, money, wealth but im not sure. im not a millionaire but i did give myself a check for xmas for $100,000.00.
now i just need to figure out when to cash it.

jem trail

today we ripped barts favorite trail the jem over by zion. the full loop takes about 2.5 hrs. so we hammered it out, mostly 1 track with some dirt roads. goulds/jem/virgin rim trail loop. it felt like 65 degrees today but it wasnt. warm enough for shorts and jersey.
yaaaa

back in the day me and bart would rip laps on just the jem dh, back up the road 3 or 4 times.
now its still fast and the scalpel was rippin the berms and hookin up the gaps.

i like the mop, he has emailed me a few times over the year and i dont know what the story is but seems hes got some things figured out. mainly people skills. i wish i could deal with people like he can. i wish we were friends and could meet up some time. im impressed with his notes, his old blog bored me to death, but when he emailed me i was in awe.
good job mop.
maybe one day we will meet up somewhere. hopefully if you see me you will introduce yourself. i would like that.

seems i offended some people yesterday with my post, so i deleted it. i thought it was a free country and i can write what i want. if people dont like what i write then dont come here and read it. i dont talk trash or bag on anyone. i dont lie about people. if the truth hurts then change your truth.
but i got some hate mail and a request to withdraw it, the names will go unmentioned, since im not about to make people mad i thought i should do that.

the humor was off and i thought we were over that.

it was like a month ago and i guess the wounds for some are not healed so i wont rub salt.
bad call on my part, good intentions read the wrong way. i cant please everyone. but i do respect the people who emailed me so there you go, what ever thats worth. its worth it for me to write this.

hope you get what you all need and wanted tomorrow for xmas. i got what i wanted early, so im goin to the movies.

hugs and kisses

53 degrees in sunny dixie

ya its nice down here. i spent most of the day out on little creek bluff. its colder up there but it was nice. slow technical single track some of the shaded areas had a few inches of snow. so i was rippin it up there for over 3 hrs of slickrock and 1 track fun.

drock here, dug works at red rock and i have known him for about 15 years. he lives up in new harmony and i have stayed in his cabin a few times.

he wont let me get lost, its really easy out on those bluffs to get lost. we just ripped around most of the day.

tomorrow is 3 more over on the virgin river rim/jem loop. i think like 20 or 30 people are going.
ya time to shred.

Friday, December 22, 2006

rippin some trail

i found this gap jump in the middle of the desert. i was goin big today.

it was another primo winter day in the south. 2.5 hrs of trail shredding. it was sunny and about 50 today.

have fun in the smog and snow.
tomorrow im going over to the hurricane area to rip up little creek and gooseberry. should be about 3 or 4 more hours.

time to shred

4.5 hours in the sun

this is dirty rob, the shop kitty.

yesterday i was chowing pizza, thanks to mark, he paid, and i ate. it gave me energy for today. i had some cookies and pizza. time to pig out.

i went riding in the sun today for about 80 miles. all over town back and forth. now its time to eat some burritos and go to the movies.

specialized deflect gloves suck, i had these for 2 months and they are full of holes. the guys over at red rock gave me a new pair for free.

ya i went riding with those guys anyway so we were out in the big ring all day. 45 degrees felt like 60 and the sun was blazing.
better than slc smog.

i hope to get about 35 hrs in 2 weeks. we'll see how it goes. its rollin and time to shred.

my new favorite show on mtv is rob and big, a skinny skater dude, a pit bull named meaty and a 400 pound black man.

good times.

maybe i should take a shower, its been about a week. i needed to wash my sheets but i forgot. i did that last time like in october.
i will do it next year when i get home

time to go

Wednesday, December 20, 2006

have fun in the snow, im outta here

check out these sweet new shoes i got, nike poggio 4 carbon super light and stiff. no tread on the bottom, but i dont need that, i dont walk, i hop stuff like no way rey.

trim 5 more ounces off the rotational weight of shoes. i had the older model now these are way better.
today is the day, im outta here. its cold and i know sager wants to go to the sunny south. but he tells me hes going to mexico for 3 weeks. very soon.

heres the plan, 3 hrs a day for the next 2 weeks. mtn and road rides 1.5 hr to 2 hrs each. mix it up and shred some trail, hit the secret stash. (washington, ivins, my hometown) so nobody knows what the hell im talkin bout.
50 degrees beats riding in 30, or the trainer or the gym. poor bastards i feel for you.
i might be back on the 3rd.
i might stay longer.

i got this pic from the wolf, seems hes going a bit stir crazy. i know the feeling, yes i do and im over it.

time to go

riding at night 20 degrees

i was out riding in the dark, its cold so i went like 10 miles then got warm. i found some new friends on the street corner.
im leaving early, im going south. i ate some food today and it was good, now i have a lot of energy and feel like a caged tiger.
i saw some famous roadies riding around town today but i wont be a typical name dropper.
like you guys care anyway.
i dont hate the gays, i just like making fun. i hope they make fun of me. i just feel bad for the poor bastards. they can do what they want. i dont say if right or wrong. its whatever they want and its ok.
so there you go.
im eating pizza tomorrow then driving to cedar.
im kicking ass so watch out

am i gay? i dont know.

GENTLEMEN, IT'S TIME FOR YOUR ANNUAL "AM I GAY?" SELF-EXAMINATION
1. If you are over thirty and you have a washboard stomach, you are gay.It means you haven't sucked back enough beer with the boys and have spent the rest of your free time doing sit-ups, aerobics, and doing the Oprah diet.
2. If you have a cat, you are a Flaaaaming homo. A cat is like a dog, but gay - it grooms itself constantly but never scratches itself, has a delicate touchexcept when it uses its nails, and whines to be fed. And just think about how you call a dog... "Killer, come here! I said get your ass over here, Killer!" Now think about how you call a cat..."Bun-bun, come to daddy, snookums!" Jeeezus, you're fit to be framed, you're so gay.
3. If you suck on lollipops, Ring-Pops, baby pacifiers, or any such nonsense, rest assured, you are a Gaylord. A straight man only sucks on bar-b-que ribs, crab claws, raw oysters, crawfish guts, pickled pigs feet, or tits. Anything else and you are in training to suck El Dicko and are undeniably a fag.
4. If you refuse to take a dump in a public bathroom or piss in a parking lot, you crave a deep homosexual relationship. A man's world is his bathroom; he defecates and urinates where he pleases.
5. If you drink decaf coffee with skim milk, you like a high hard one in the poop chute. Coffee is to be hard strong, black, and full aroma. A straight man will never be heard ordering a "Decaf Cafe Latte with Skim "and he will never, ever know what artificial sweetener tastes like. If you've had NutraSweet in your mouth, you've had a man there too.
6. If you know more than six names of colors or four different types of dessert, you might as well be handing out free passes to your ass. A real man doesn't have memory space in his brain to remember all of that crap as well as all the names of all the players in the Major league, NFL, NHL, college ball, PGA and NASCAR. If you can pick out chartreuse or you know what a "fressier" is you're gay. And if you can name ANY type of textile other than denim, you are faggadocious.
7. If you drive with both hands on the wheel, forget it, you're dying to tune a meat whistle. A man only puts both hands on the wheel to honk at a slow-ass driver or to cut the punk off. The rest of the time he needs that hand to change the radio station, eat a hamburger, hold his beer, or play with his honey in the passenger seat.

eat me black mold

ya i found these socks over at revolution. thanks for the input.
this old place where i used to work its over by faustina, across the street. anyway they ripped it up like tore the walls and ceilings down and it was laced with black mold all over, thats great i was breathing that crap for like 7 months. im glad im outta that shit hole. maybe thats why my plant was dying and now its like full on blooming health.
i was driving all over town today, delivering xmas cheer, and tomorrow i will be doing the same.
2 more days and im south bound and cant wait to just ride and eat. do nothing else, maybe watch tv and go to movies.
yesterday i was at my friends house for like 8 hours i watched 3 movies. this is an older one but if you have not seen requiem for a dream go get it.
it makes you think about how good your life is, no matter what problems you think you have and life sucks try living like those people.
that is some crazy shit.

the prime times

ya this paper isnt about sly aka prime time. its just some lame story as in the head line.

but if you want to keep up on the antics and adventures of the legend and god father just tune in here everyday.
its sunny and cold but that wont stop me from rippin it up.

i have had a lot of free time on my hands for a few weeks, so i decided to pretty much volunteer and do some christmas deliveries for my friend. it passes the time until i get to ride down south in few days.
also its nice to get out and switch up the scenery. driving around town with xmas baskets, everyone is always glad to see you and offers warm xmas wishes.

thursday through new years i will be in the sun or on the beach riding chilling or stayin at friends houses from st george to san diego and tucson. if anyone is going down south during this time email me. i have got about 4 or 5 people lined up for mtn and road rides in each state.

it should be a nice break from the cold and im looking forward to 2007.

rip it up
if you are on the skis, trainer or whatever.

ya i cracked

ya so this fasting cleans thing is over for me. i mean i got until weds the 20th really but today i caved in as sager would say.

last saturday was the race and i had some pasta, then this week i moved it up to a bowl of minestrone soup each day, that was nice. today i cracked, went to a friends house party and normie watched me eat cookies and coke.

but that was the end of it, i started early today with fruit salad, some spinach, the chips were good too.

vitamin water, well thats like gatorade. im barely at 157 lbs so i guess i did some good on this 2 week controlled anorexia.

im not throwing in the towel full on yet, i just caved in. you know the holiday food binges.
i am still waiting for the utah rider to bring me pizza weds night. i cant wait. also i cant wait to get out of here. at least it will be 50's in st. george and im sick of sitting around all day twiddling my thumbs and freezing my ass off when i go outside.

boo hoo, my life isnt so bad as i make it out to be.

hit the slopes or something, im itching to ride 3 hrs a day for about 2 weeks straight on the new road bike.

oh ya here is tree farm winning nationals today. levers, watts = ass kicking power.

65 degrees december 15th

i have been outside for awhile today. riding around, its time to ride, ya i dont have much energy but i dont care im going out for another 1.5 hrs its super nice and tomorrow its snowing so i hope you guys can get out in this clear warm air.

next week im leaving town for the rest of the year. i got the new road bike ready and im going to be riding a lot more than the last 4 weeks.

i feel pretty good and things are going to be better than expected for the upcoming year.

i knew about this movie for about a year now but i never watched it. its not at block buster so you have to buy it.

its pretty cool so if you dont know about it go buy it, its life changing.

i was thinking i was doing it all along but if pain and suffering come along in your life it means you are off track and need to make an adjustment.

so i adjusted, and things are better. sounds simple, and it is. its all about intention and your thoughts.

enough of yogi sly, im on the road until i bonk.

atrain said he didnt have the watts and got 8th and crispy is leading the other age group class i dont know who won yet so maybe i'll post it later.

i guess crispy was leading the whole race then some guy caught him on the last lap and beat him by 2 inches in the sprint.

thats my age group., i have some work to do since he lapped me at rmr a few months ago.

i was riding up 33rd today over by rei, i found a 20 dollar bill on the side walk.

its better than getting run over by a bus. its going to snow now so im going to go get the 12" tire snow bike.

Thursday, December 14, 2006

no energy to burn

but i rode outside for a few hours today, well maybe 1.5 hrs plus a nice walk around the city. i used to hate walking but since i have a lot of free time its nice. i must be getting old.

its like 60 and sunny today. just what i needed, hooked up with 1 or 2 roadies and tried to keep up, its a weird feeling riding with no energy but its only 5 more days so stick it out and then time to shred st. george next week.

if anyone knows where to buy these let me know, i want some.

hmmmm.... dont hump the train.

can anyone identify my secret training partner

i sold my cross bike yesterday, and got the new road bike today. should be good for about 20 hours next week in the sun.
i wonder if atrain is going to win tomorrow
