back at it. and its friday 13th

brandon firth

works at stein in dv, hangs with busra and bjorn.

lives the high rollin pc life style. jet sets to ski and bike shows. rips dv trails in the summer on 12" travel bikes and gets to ski for free with the pc millionaires.

ya

he also is addicted to racing. you can see him at every ICUP, cyclocross, sundance, soho, solitude weekly series and some ski races. also he has been at it since i can remember back in 93, or before.

he now resides with his wife and kids in heber city.

do you ever wish to be a pro mtn biker
If you were going to the moon, who would you take?
• Do you ever feel you can't win?
• Do you feel most people cheat if the conditions are right?
• If you could be granted superpowers, which superpower would you want?

#3 wasnt about races, its about other stuff.
or you could take it as a race, i just thought about it.

#1 the travel would be impossible at this stage of my life. I have been fortunate enough to see the best parts of the world through athletic pursuits, but at this stage of life with family, work etc. there is no way I could do it. Its funny though because back in the early days of Mtb racing you raced with the top guys at a lot of events. Guys like T-Mac, Rishi, Tinker, Bob Roll, DP, Glen Adams, Stenger all these guys knew how to hammer. They are now legends. It was different back then, now its well its just not as cool as it once was. The races, the venues the promoters. I remember racing with like 100+ guys back in 95-96 at Mammoth. Snow summitt, DV, Cactus cups. Back then a top ten or fifteen was big. Now in the experts, semi pros or pros there are maybe 100 guys combined... No cash, no sponsors. WHAT HAPPENED TO OUR SPORT.
But I like the way I race now pick a few races to do well in and live a full life... Do it all..... family work race.. Thats the Ned Overend program of the 90's.. Not that I am half the athlete he is. But it can be done.. Sometimes you can still go fast even with a full plate. Bart G has proved that over the last few seasons. Besides I think I would get bored being a full time pro...But then again it would be sweet to focus on the bike full time, just for the simplicity of it...

#2 I would want to take my wife Jessica. That way I know that I would make it back, she knows how to keep me on track!!!!!

#3 Winning is a funny thing, I found out early in life that being a winner is different for everyone. For some its the win (which is all so sweet). But for others it may just be reaching goals.. Or putting it all out there, giving all you have got. That to me is winning. I believe as long as you are realistic about goals and results you can always be a winner.

#4 I hope that competitors are honest, But I have to say that I have seen a few strange things over the years.. At big and small events. But being a optimistic person, I think most true athletes follow the rules.
Then again you see the doping problems, and it makes you really wonder... In the world it seems that there is a lot of dishonesty and it makes me sad. But I hope that its just the few bad seeds that stand out, and most are trying to do good.

#5 Superpower, Huh never though about that one before, I guess if I could have any super gift I would hope to be the best Dad ever... Thats more important to me than anything. Dads out there know what I mean.. Its a constant never ending dedication to being the man to those little grommets. It is not easy....
So give me super dad power. It would be cool to fly though....

no interviews
no racing

no motivation to ride
i wonder about the people who walk outside in long sleeves and jeans when its 103 degrees on my van thermometer. these are the same idiots who ask me in january why im outside in shorts when its snowing.

then the homeless folk who walk around in the DT with the down parka life preserver on??

what the hell?

the AC condensor is dripping out of the ceiling all over my dave z posters on the shelf.
i got more emails from the african scammers
i got my bike front brake fixed after 6 days of no riding.
im selling red bull
im watching tv and movies a lot
it grosses me out to see all the hand prints and germs on the maverick front door
and all the soda, gum, dirt and crap smeared on the 7-11 side walk and drive way
its really hot out and i cant imagine living in st george, vegas or phoenix right now
my legs are still tired from 6 days ago
i sleep a lot and do nothing
i just scored a bunch of sweet king, easton, speed play parts online.

i wonder when my new scalpel will show up

im going to shred dh at dv tomorrow, dh style and ride the lift. see if i can get this thing rollin cuz boris keeps hounding me to race the new 50 mile course next week.

sounds kind of depressing, summer doldrums, ya but it can be and has been worse. so im not complaining im just chillin in the AC.

Friends and Family;

I can't thank you enough for your concern and support during my little battle with cancer and I thought since I had a follow up CT scan last week and rode my bike outside today (Yay!) for the first time since May 19th, it was time for a short update on my condition.

The good news is nothing has changed since my last scan seven weeks ago. As aggressive as my particular cancer has been, slowing the tumor growth has been the primary focus of my oncologist and it seems we have acheived that for now. In fact, one tumor has shrunk (thankfully the one on my sit bone that has prevented me from getting on the bike) so the chemo therapy we are using is working, but we have to keep at it.

I'll undergo four more sessions, one every two weeks, over the next two months and receive yet another CT scan to check progress. As long as I can keep riding my bike and the tumors continue to shrink, my next email to you should be full of good news.

Thanks again,
Terry

Spectators at Saturday's Porcupine Hill Climb didn't end up seeing the
victory many of them expected, but ultimately they experienced
something much more emotional. A Sunday morning article in the Salt Lake
Tribune expresses things eloquently: http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_6323011

Saul's book, Tour de Life: From Coma to Competition, will be in stores
this September. Copies are now available direct from the publisher at

from the bank of africa. hell ya

but dont mind the email is from france.
ldris_ado08@hotmail.fr

FROM THE DESK OF MR LDRIS ADO,

BILL AND EXCHANGE MANAGER,
BANK OF AFRICA (BOA)
OUAGADOUGOU,
BURKINA FASO.
WEST AFRICA

Dear Good Friend,

I AM THE MANAGER OF BILL AND EXCHANGE AT THE FOREING REMITTANCE DEPARTMENT BANK OF AFRICAN (BOA). I CRAVE YOUR INDULGENCE AS I CONTACT YOU IN SUCH A SURPRISING MANNER.

BUT I RESPECTFOLLY INSIST YOU READ THIS LETTER CAREFULLY AS I AM OPTIMISTIC IT WILL OPEN DOOR FOR UNIMAGINABLE FINANCIAL REWARDS FOR BOTH OF US.

IN MY DEPARTMENT WE DISCOVERED AN ABANDONED SUM OF THIRTEEN MILLION SEVEN HUNDRED THAUSAND US DOLLERS ($13.7M)

ONLY,IN AN ACCOUNT THAT BELONGS TO ONE OF OUR FOREIGN CUSTOMER WHO DIED ALONG WITH HIS ENTIRE FAMILY IN A PLAN CRASH.

SINCE WE GOT INFORMATION ABOUT HIS DEATH,
WE HAVE BEEN EXPECTING HIS NEST OF KIN TO COME OVER AND CLAIM HIS MONEY BECAUSE WE CANNOT RELEASE IT TO UNLESS SOMEBODY APPLIES FOR IT AS NEST OF KIN OR RELATION TO THE DECEASED AS INDICATED IN OUR BANKING GUIDELINES BUT UNFORTUNATELY WE LEARNT THAT ALL HIS SUPPOSED NEST OF KIN OR RELATION DIED ALONG WITH HIM AT THE PLAN CRASH LEAVING NOBODY BEHIND FOR THE CLAIM.

IT IS THEREFORE UPON THIS DISCOVERY THAT I NOW DECIDED TO MAKE THIS BUSINESS PROPOSAL TO YOU SO THAT THE MONEY COULD BE RELEASE TO YOU AS THE NEST OF KIN OR RELATION TO THE DECEASED FOR SAFETY AND SUBSEQUENT DISBURSEMENT SINCE NOBODY IS COMING FOR IT AND I DONT WANT THIS MONEY TO GO INTO THE BANK TREASURY AS UNCLAIMED BILL.

THE BANKING LAW AND GUIDELINE HRER STIPULATES THAT IF SUCH MONEY REMAINED UNCLAIMED AFTER FIVE YEARS,THE MONEY WILL BE TRANSFERRED INTO THE BANK TREASURY AS UNCLAIMED FUND. THE REQUEST FOR A FOREIGNER AS NEST OF KIN IN THIS BUSINESS IS OCCASIONED BY THE FACT THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS A FOREINER AND A BURKINA CANNOT STAND AS NEST OF KIN TO A FOREINER.WE AGREE THAT 30% OF THIS MONEY WILL BE FOR YOU AS A FOREIGN PARTNER,IN RESPECT TO THE PROVITION OF A FOREIGN ACCOUNT, 10% WILL BE SET ASIDE FOR EXPENSES INCURRED DURING THE BUSINESS AND 60% WOULD BE FOR ME.
TRUSTING TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON.
YOURS FAITHFULY,
MR: LDRIS ADO,

wow what deal, whos in?
i got this from the wolf. apparently mr. ldris ado, didnt go to this convention, he cant spell worth a damn and check out the translation. sounds legit to me though.
seriously is there anyone who believes this.
yes there is and they are getting scammed.

fast floyd

i slept in the van for 7 hrs

for all the haters, here you go jackass

the firecracker, it starts on main street, climbs up a road for a bit. you do two 25 mile laps with 5,500 elevation per lap.

you start off in waves, age groups every minute. so there was like 700 people on the course. its a good race, lots of people and some crazy dh.

oh ya its got some long climbs and i wasnt in the big ring.

the best part was passing for fun on the dh, full speed crazy canadian lines in the rocks, baby heads, loose and embedded, small stream crossings, mud bogs, logs and the oil pressure on my front brake blew out so i was skidding a lot.

next time you are out try rear braking only, its worse than front only.

then go max speed and try not to hit a tree.
yaa rip it.

scaring people back in 400 place. full speed dh launching off kickers.

good times and good passing practice.
yaaa it wasnt a total waste.

i followed wheels for 4 hrs, then sat in the feed zone for an hour. at least i had a good view.

heres the new mona vie team kits.

erin, thomas, sager and ohran.
staying true to the green lantern style, he gets green.

the purple lantern just doesnt sound right.

erin got 3rd in open 19/29 women, thomas got 11th in pro overall, sager won the maverick category, me and slowran, well, were slow. results here

thomas here is watching the waiter swim, 45 degree water. well he barely made it 10 mins and was bright red.

we listened to chipos crappy ipod for 7 hrs with ear plugs. thats all i did today so here are some more pics from yesterday.
