i wish everyday was like today
well i wrote some long story then blogger freakin deleted it, it went somethin like this.
today was as perfect as it gets for riding, the weather is well did you go outside today and check it. not too hot, sunset at 930, no wind and blue skies. its all downhill from here. longest day today and that just kicks ass.
riding was perfect, but the mailman sucks, he comes at 7pm to deliver and pick up all my packages. what the hell is wrong with him
and my comcast hasnt been workin all day so i cant post jack. so here my long story.
i took the last 72 hrs off because i couldnt walk up 10 stairs without passing out. then all of the sudden i feel like superman today, riding big ring again. i wish i could time these days for saturdays instead. i rode up to dog lake and ripped down little water, some dude did a endo about 10 sec in front of me, so i hit a rock jump and launched over him. hope hes okay, i saw him in the dirt laying there. then busted down pipeline for 3.5 hr ride. big ringin it all the way up millcreek, on the mtn bike, ive never done that before. thats 1 thing i hate about racing or training one day you cant ride across the street and the next nobody can stop you. it starts screwin with my mind and i think im retarded or something. cant ride granny even some days. if anyone has a manual on how to use a human body email me. i lost mine.
so im not sick, i just felt wasted for the past few days. 72 hrs rest seems to do wonders. last weekend i finished a 3 week block of 56 hrs and i guess i over did it a little and needed some time off. so bart reminded me i have only been riding/training for about 100 days and it will take a few more months. but im impatient and that seems to be one my many problems.
my race season is kind of different than most. im planning on racing up until december then im movin to st george for 4 months. it will be nice to get out of the winter weather for awhile. then rip it up and start off with a early spring race season.
maybe im thinkin too far ahead, but its a rough plan.
i wonder i passed the mop today in millcreek, red jersey, flowing locks, tried to drop me, but i worked him over.

from bern to trolley square

heres the pink dude back from bern switzerland, cold kickin it at trolley tonight. i bagged him from the van and he didnt even see me comin.
i just wasted 2 days doing nothing, sitting on my ass tired. cant even walk up 10 stairs without passing out. so i will just keep sitting here until this crap passes. no sense in riding. i tried riding to the post office and i was blown riding 7 blocks. im goin to bed and maybe by saturday i'll feel better. i should drive to san diego and hang out on the la playa. i wonder what the real pink dudes name is, im hungry again and i just pigged out at barbacoa. im gonna go up to dog lake or desolation this week sometime and check out the snow levels. i wonder if chucky is gonna win the cream puff on saturday?

i am opening a sports book for cycling bets. i have a gift for handicapping and im gonna use it.

i would have won if i pedaled faster

i dont mean me, of course, BYU, obviously.

doesnt it work that way? ya so i got a flat 3 mins into the race, but it really didnt matter i was like 10 mins off the win anyhow. so got a new wheel and rode around for 2 hrs trying to pass people. at least no girls passed me. then jones and bart lapped me. maybe i should go motor pace a UTA buss down state street, or snake says stop eating so much. ok snake, i'm cutting back to 1/2 a melon a day. solitude in 2 weeks, i better figure somethin out. ya now im bummed out and tryin to figure out what to do next. 20 or 30 hrs this week, whats for dinner or how much time i lost changin my wheel. i wonder how much longer it takes to get fast. the best thing of the day is ohran-o-kurov didnt race so he owes me 5 g's. ya kick it down. bart won in a last ditch drag race up the last climb and put a few seconds on jones for the win. dont count out the beagle, he will prove you wrong.
i wonder if bobby got bit by a great white in puget sound?

dry creek TT
the dry creek TT is the bench mark for a short threshold workout measurement. back in the day i would ride this trail 4 or 5 times a week in the same direction. trying to milk every corner and climb for seconds. eventually i got it down to 28 mins. from the U block (dry creek canyon) over to the pavement in city creek. today i ripped it pretty fast on the climb just about 30 seconds off my best time from 3 years ago. its a short climb, under 10 mins. usually 8 if i flat haul ass. but the good thing is i wasnt maxed or feeling like throwing up at the top which usually is the case when i pin it. so im still feelin good like 2 days ago and tomorrow is virtually a guaranteed win. racin is racin and you never know what can happen. its all in my control and hopefully tomorrow the race report will be perfect. i have some nay sayers about how much shit i talk but really its for me, to motivate me and not come up with any excuses. so its all fun and its just a bike race so get over it and i encourage smack talk. it doesnt hurt anyone and even if you predict your own future more power to you. so shoot for the moon and make your history books. dont let others direct your future. its a free country and i will do as i please. im bringin my big bag of pain.
heres the fastest xc bike on the planet.
my prediction for the real fast guys is jones then bart maybe within 20 sec. of each other. bg hates to be counted out but this course favors him more than jones so if he has the power he should hang tough but i still think jones will win. bg may prove me wrong. he is tenacious.

10 days later
ok the big deal about 6-6-06 came and went. now its 6-16-06, take out the 1, 2, and 0. big F'in deal. its the same thing today. nobody is makin a big deal out of today. maybe the homeless dude in provo is writing tales of destruction on his napkin again. maybe sly is crazy. maybe im bored. its cloudy and i got nothin to do. maybe thats why im not a pro roadie. they ride for 4 hrs a day then kick it for 20 hrs. i get bored and then i start eating twinkies and cokes and red bulls. i wonder if art is ever goin to texas and im wondering if jones will crush tomorrow. or is bg on a comeback? too many things goin on. i need a nap.

the flow has arrived
you know the flow, the race flow is way better but today i was flowing, pure power no pain, stand up on and rally the bike flinging, flipping around under you like the way ATRAIN rides his pet pony. spanking it, like broke back mtn in full effect.
as paul sherwin says "tickling the pedals and dancing on the pedals" big ring and hammer. watch a fast moving river it flows around over the rocks and terrain. i am the water flowing, hauling ass down the trail. hooking up every switchback and digging every berm. the flow has arrived and its about god damn time.
today was 3 hrs, 2 mtn 1 road. downtown over to the zoo and back to city creek then up ensign, ripping down into city creek and trying not to scare the hikers. but i was flat hauling ass. the scalpel is king and im not even sponsored by cannondale.
here is the mother of all salt lakes.
i went to visit my friend in the pain cave today. instead i found a sign at the entrance. it said: dear sly, you have done your due diligence and its time for your next challenge. find flow. you have conquered the pain cave for now and you must flow into your next adventures.
hot damn, that kicks ass.
then i wondered what happened to my skeletons in the hurt locker so i checked it out.
also another note on the locker. it said: sly,.... school is out for summer so get the hell out of here.
sweet,
time to hammer.
saturday is going to be a blood bath.
i wonder if the mop grows watermelons in his garden?

cat like

ok so today i rode down the canyon, like 20 mins. i was rippin with this cross/tail wind. hitting some good green lights down 500 south, doin like 50mph. on the way downtown, i almost got killed seriously like 5 times. people are so god damn stupid it pisses me off. when will they learn to open their eyes get off the F*($#%^%#@^%#@ phones and drive half way normal. if wasnt for my cat like bike handling skills i would be smashed under some jackass' hummer..... FUH2. big ass F350 mega red neck trucks what a bunch of shit. i hate everyone. its my day off the training plan and im pissed im gonna go break some windows some where. oh ya i forgot to tell you. sunday in the crit me and ali were hammering in a break and some homeless moron stops in the middle of the road on his bike on the course and stands there while the cops are yelling at him to get his fat black ass off the road meanwhile we are hauling ass on to him we both laid down these 100 foot skids just so i wouldnt T bone the poor bastard. next thing i know the pack is 20 feet behind me. what a waste of effort. next time that happens im taking him out with a clothes line to the jugular.
if you can tell im all balled up over somethin, so dont mess with me i liable to throw down.
