i got a couple emails from tmac and sauls press secretary

Friends and Family;

I can't thank you enough for your concern and support during my little battle with cancer and I thought since I had a follow up CT scan last week and rode my bike outside today (Yay!) for the first time since May 19th, it was time for a short update on my condition.

The good news is nothing has changed since my last scan seven weeks ago. As aggressive as my particular cancer has been, slowing the tumor growth has been the primary focus of my oncologist and it seems we have acheived that for now. In fact, one tumor has shrunk (thankfully the one on my sit bone that has prevented me from getting on the bike) so the chemo therapy we are using is working, but we have to keep at it.

I'll undergo four more sessions, one every two weeks, over the next two months and receive yet another CT scan to check progress. As long as I can keep riding my bike and the tumors continue to shrink, my next email to you should be full of good news.

Thanks again,
Terry

Spectators at Saturday's Porcupine Hill Climb didn't end up seeing the
victory many of them expected, but ultimately they experienced
something much more emotional. A Sunday morning article in the Salt Lake
Tribune expresses things eloquently: http://www.sltrib.com/sports/ci_6323011

Saul's book, Tour de Life: From Coma to Competition, will be in stores
this September. Copies are now available direct from the publisher at

from the bank of africa. hell ya

but dont mind the email is from france.
ldris_ado08@hotmail.fr

FROM THE DESK OF MR LDRIS ADO,

BILL AND EXCHANGE MANAGER,
BANK OF AFRICA (BOA)
OUAGADOUGOU,
BURKINA FASO.
WEST AFRICA

Dear Good Friend,

I AM THE MANAGER OF BILL AND EXCHANGE AT THE FOREING REMITTANCE DEPARTMENT BANK OF AFRICAN (BOA). I CRAVE YOUR INDULGENCE AS I CONTACT YOU IN SUCH A SURPRISING MANNER.

BUT I RESPECTFOLLY INSIST YOU READ THIS LETTER CAREFULLY AS I AM OPTIMISTIC IT WILL OPEN DOOR FOR UNIMAGINABLE FINANCIAL REWARDS FOR BOTH OF US.

IN MY DEPARTMENT WE DISCOVERED AN ABANDONED SUM OF THIRTEEN MILLION SEVEN HUNDRED THAUSAND US DOLLERS ($13.7M)

ONLY,IN AN ACCOUNT THAT BELONGS TO ONE OF OUR FOREIGN CUSTOMER WHO DIED ALONG WITH HIS ENTIRE FAMILY IN A PLAN CRASH.

SINCE WE GOT INFORMATION ABOUT HIS DEATH,
WE HAVE BEEN EXPECTING HIS NEST OF KIN TO COME OVER AND CLAIM HIS MONEY BECAUSE WE CANNOT RELEASE IT TO UNLESS SOMEBODY APPLIES FOR IT AS NEST OF KIN OR RELATION TO THE DECEASED AS INDICATED IN OUR BANKING GUIDELINES BUT UNFORTUNATELY WE LEARNT THAT ALL HIS SUPPOSED NEST OF KIN OR RELATION DIED ALONG WITH HIM AT THE PLAN CRASH LEAVING NOBODY BEHIND FOR THE CLAIM.

IT IS THEREFORE UPON THIS DISCOVERY THAT I NOW DECIDED TO MAKE THIS BUSINESS PROPOSAL TO YOU SO THAT THE MONEY COULD BE RELEASE TO YOU AS THE NEST OF KIN OR RELATION TO THE DECEASED FOR SAFETY AND SUBSEQUENT DISBURSEMENT SINCE NOBODY IS COMING FOR IT AND I DONT WANT THIS MONEY TO GO INTO THE BANK TREASURY AS UNCLAIMED BILL.

THE BANKING LAW AND GUIDELINE HRER STIPULATES THAT IF SUCH MONEY REMAINED UNCLAIMED AFTER FIVE YEARS,THE MONEY WILL BE TRANSFERRED INTO THE BANK TREASURY AS UNCLAIMED FUND. THE REQUEST FOR A FOREIGNER AS NEST OF KIN IN THIS BUSINESS IS OCCASIONED BY THE FACT THAT THE CUSTOMER WAS A FOREINER AND A BURKINA CANNOT STAND AS NEST OF KIN TO A FOREINER.WE AGREE THAT 30% OF THIS MONEY WILL BE FOR YOU AS A FOREIGN PARTNER,IN RESPECT TO THE PROVITION OF A FOREIGN ACCOUNT, 10% WILL BE SET ASIDE FOR EXPENSES INCURRED DURING THE BUSINESS AND 60% WOULD BE FOR ME.
TRUSTING TO HEAR FROM YOU SOON.
YOURS FAITHFULY,
MR: LDRIS ADO,

wow what deal, whos in?
i got this from the wolf. apparently mr. ldris ado, didnt go to this convention, he cant spell worth a damn and check out the translation. sounds legit to me though.
seriously is there anyone who believes this.
yes there is and they are getting scammed.

fast floyd

i slept in the van for 7 hrs

for all the haters, here you go jackass

the firecracker, it starts on main street, climbs up a road for a bit. you do two 25 mile laps with 5,500 elevation per lap.

you start off in waves, age groups every minute. so there was like 700 people on the course. its a good race, lots of people and some crazy dh.

oh ya its got some long climbs and i wasnt in the big ring.

the best part was passing for fun on the dh, full speed crazy canadian lines in the rocks, baby heads, loose and embedded, small stream crossings, mud bogs, logs and the oil pressure on my front brake blew out so i was skidding a lot.

next time you are out try rear braking only, its worse than front only.

then go max speed and try not to hit a tree.
yaa rip it.

scaring people back in 400 place. full speed dh launching off kickers.

good times and good passing practice.
yaaa it wasnt a total waste.

i followed wheels for 4 hrs, then sat in the feed zone for an hour. at least i had a good view.

here are a couple of emails i got today.

i usually get a lot of this one, its a scam from africa.

how stupid are people that really believe this crap?

anyway this time i responded and told him it sounds like a good deal. lets do biz.

we'll see how far it goes. im going to milk it and make him think im rich.
ya.

Dear Friend,

I know that this message will come to you as a surprise. I am the bill and exchange manager in African Development Bank Annex,Ouagadougou Burkina faso. I Hoped that you will not expose or betray this trust and confident that i am about to repose on you for the mutual benefit of our both families. I need your urgent assistance in transferring the sum of ($15)million to your account within 10 or 14 banking days. This money has been dormant for years in our Bank without claim. I want the bank to release the money to you as the nearest person to our deceased customer(the owner of the account)died along with his supposed next of kin in an air crash since July 2000. I don't want the money to go into our Bank treasurer as an abandoned fund. So this is the reason why i contacted you so that the bank can release the money to you as the next of kin to the deceased customer. Please I would like you to keep this proposal as a top secret and delete it if you are not interested. Upon receipt of your reply,i will give you full details on how the business will be executed and also note that you will have 25% of the above mentioned sum if you agree to handle this business with me.

Best Regard.

MR mohamed

ok later mohamed ali , freakin retard.

Dear cris,

Here's a great article that came out this morning about Saul's participation in the Porcupine Hill Climb up Big Cottonwood Canyon to Brighton, Utah

It's going to be an incredible morning.
The event will serve as an unofficial launch for the new biography Saul wrote with Dave Shields entitled Tour de Life: From Coma to Competition. Books won't be available in stores until September 1, but you can get your signed copy at the event or through this Web site: http://www.tourdelife.us/
We look forward to seeing you at the Porcupine if you are in the area.

i got this from the green lantern. he misses me.

chinese pro mtn biker world cuppers are dopers

the title says it all.

i have been watching the pro world cup forever, the results, the pictures. its good stuff.
adam craigs 2 top tens, kabush in 3rd last week.
thats not what im talking about here.

its these chinese girls who 2 years ago come out of nowhere, race huffys in cotton gloves and baggy clothes. they show up at worlds and get in the top 10.

from nowhere.

my point is the world cup yesterday in canada from what i read is a true mtb course. none of this fire road crap fitness courses. like hard core technical ups and downs. they should all be like this.
it keeps the dopers at bay, just like it did for the chinese girls yesterday.

the olympics are next year and the chinese government is doped to the gills along with many other countries. but it kills me to see girls like georgia and kathy work their ass off, get in the top 5 or better and some government doping agency takes over and puts these no name chinese girls at the top of the game in no time at all.

the world cup course yesterday proves that they are not mtn bikers and all the dope in the world cant make you drive a bike.

im glad they got smoked and the true mtn bikers can claim victory

read it here

pepe sherwin

chris sherwin

hes famous for riding his wives coat tails.
ok, not really, but she is lucky to have someone dedicated to support as this crazy guy.

yaa

here he is at the dv super d, eatin some dust. face plant.

he likes to talk in spanish and tell kids how to do it, rips the dh, i can relate.
skis half the year, breaks bikes, skis and cars.
sometimes races expert xc, but mostly likes to help his wife dominate.
last year he whooped me in a super d and i was pissed.
its hard to tell all the revo guys apart cuz there are like 200 of them in the same jersey but if you are riding or racing and he yells behind you get out of my line you better move cuz hes comin with heat and may take you out.

ok j/k again. but watch out any way just to be safe.

Hey Fox! I wrote this a while back, but didn't get around to sending it until now. Sherwin

If you had to be shipwrecked on a deserted island, but all your human needs - such as food and water - were taken care of, what two items would you want to have with you?

First of all what a whacked set of questions for the blog. You're going in a great new direction here.

#1) Kathy Sherwin for sure. That smell would keep predators away; and then #2 probably a bike for her so she wouldn't go nuts.

If you had six months with no obligations or financial constraints, what would you do with the time? If you had only six months left to live, what would you do with the time?

Hmmmmm... Six months. I'm just finishing up two. I travelled all over the place with Kathy watching her race. Of course we were actually on a pretty tight budget, so that doesn't count.
I've always wanted to spend a month or two in Baja, surfing, kiteboarding, diving, and living on the beach - which I will do someday with Kathy when she's done racing full-time. So, I'd probably say two months baja, and then a month of riding in europe because riding there is just so damn fun. Especially in Belgium. You don't have to be in a kit on a fancy bike either - everyone there rides just to get around on these old single speeds that nobody bothers to lock up. My favorite are the old, I mean friggin old people with groceries in their baskets in no real hurry to get anywhere. Then some canyoneering out of the US, and heliskiiing whereever the snow was good. After being a spoiled brat, I'd have to do some volunteer work in a third world country for a bit, or maybe try to accomplish some things here in the US where there are plenty of people in need.

Six months to live? Same thing.

If you could have dinner with anyone from history, who would it be, and why?

Jesus - hands down. I'd like to know what's really going on in the rest of the universe, what parts of the Bible are the real deal, and what was "lost in the translation" etc. I would especially like to know how many Hail Marys I need to say to avoid the flames of eternal hellfire. As an aside, if anyone can hook me up with a dinner with Jesus, I'll find out how many prayers YOU need to say to avoid the eternal pressure cooker as well.

If you could compare yourself with any animal, which would it be and why?

Hey Fox - I CAN in fact compare myself to any animal. Here it goes. On a good day, a wolf. I'm capable of being independent, but really function better in a pack. I enjoy howling. Cold weather suits me just fine. I'm misunderstood by farmers and ranchers everywhere, especially on the roads of Utah.
On a bad day, a hyena. I often find success by just being more stubborn and wearing down an adversary - animate or otherwise. This has little do do with xc racing, as I don't exactly train for that, but for the other 80% of my life, it's pretty true. Hyenas are also opportunistic pack animals that are totally underrated until you've messed with them and their buddies!

If you were a type of food, what type of food would you be?

A combo pizza. There's not one thing that defines me, or who I am. I dabble in all sorts of things and really enjoy variety.

i always wonder about these truckers, they paint "not for hire" on the side of their trucks.
