laws of attraction

the topic and comments here made me write this story. im not beating the dead horse, im trying to make a point so read on.

the comments made by my fellow bloggers make me believe that my intentions and beliefs are not understood.

this is not about being cocky or arrogant,
ITS NOT about breaking loved ones hearts
or setting examples for kids
or wishing for perfection, dodging bullets
or getting pissed at friends for caring
or saying shit happens

its about understanding laws of attraction. whatever you have in your life, good or bad is because of your thoughts and how you think.

being in the right or wrong place at the right or wrong time is not coincidence. its not "their" fault.
its not luck and its not bad or good timing.

its there cuz you wanted it to be, to learn a lesson or to take the good from it.

every crash, every short coming and failure is there because you need to learn something from it. its there because you made it come to you.

once people understand this and stop blaming others it makes things much easier.

i dont want to get hurt, or hurt others.

i choose not to be around that chaos and i dont attract it to me. i dont attract people crashing into me and i dont worry about "other peoples accidents"

shit doesnt happen.

if something happens to me that i dont want i think about it and figure out why and what the lesson is from that.
it all has messages, you just have to pay attention and get it.

its obvious to me that the comments made here that those dont get it. it being what im trying to explain.

im not saying im perfect and dont crash, i tip over and get cuts from time to time. thing is i dont want that, i dont want to die, i dont want to be paralyzed or brain dead.

i dont think an 8oz piece of foam is going to help and i dont need to here all the rebuttles and proof that im wrong.
those things are tested for 15mph crashes and when im ripping dh im not going 15mph. so if i do crash and get busted up you can email me, blog about me and or come see me at the hospital on my death bed and say i told you so.

im doing this my way and im trying new ways of thinking out of the box, maybe with too much on the table.
but thats my style and its ok by me.

ryan trebon attracted this to him

tim johnson did the same, but in a different way.

Good stuff right there, i am all for making my own world etc... But do you drive on the wrong side of the road? do you wear a seatbelt? If you played football, would you wear shoulder pads?

somethin to think on.

Good post, Fox. I'll just repeat what I said over on UTRider's blog:

"I'm the opposite of Fox, wearing a helmet makes me more gutsy because if I try something burly I don't have that little worry in the back of my head that if it goes wrong I might crack my head. But I can see Fox's point about having "faith" (for want of a better word) that you will make it and won't crash. There is power there and obviously Fox has tapped into it. I guess I'm too much of a doubter and subscriber to the "stuff happens" theory so I take precautions."

"But what if Fox isn't in tune with The Force some day? Could be bad. And brains don't heal. That grey matter does a lot to make us who we are - I think it's worth protecting even if you're a Jedi like Fox."

You gotta do your thing. You're pretty set on this no helmet thing - it's important to you, or more like a manifestation of your core beliefs. I hope you don't get too annoyed that this subject keeps coming up - it's just that lots of folks wanna keep seeing you around - you should be flattered.

Sure the helmets are designed for lower speeds than what you rip, but a helmet is still going to absorb some of the impact force over 15 mph. Stick with the argument that no-helmet is how you roll - it's the only one you can defend.

"prove what?? i've been doing this for 20 years. what more do you want a world title??"

I'm pretty sure you need a helmet to win a world title these days Sly...

; )

Yes, I'm a smart-ass too!

So last year I did this race - first time for this particular event. Organizers didn't know when the leaders would come through the turnaround point (out and back segment) and just my luck I blew by this point before anyone was there to turn riders around (it was unmarked) and kept going...the jeep trail was buff and fast, I was moving 30+ when around the next bend it all went to shit, football sized rocks and one of them threw me. I did some rolls, hitting those boulders at 25 mph, busting my helmet into 4 pieces, breaking my collarbone into 7 pieces, tearing 2 muscles in half, and breaking 4 ribs.

I'm just sayin...that helmet saved me no question.

I get your point tho. My lesson? Know when to call it a season and be done with it.

So all the Jews that got sent to the showers by Hitler attracted that? WTF did they learn from that?

Damn, Art's got a decent point with that one and he's making me re-think my views. Before I read his comment I was 100% with you on this one. Now my heads going in circles.

I don't know if I could say I fully believe in the law of attraction, but only because I believe that true belief requires action and lately I've slumped off.

I've noticed my life was much smoother when I saw life through the eyes of Attraction years ago. I've been caught up in "the real world" too much lately and have become distracted. Time for some meditation. I'll think I'll go camping and try to get some of that back.

Fox has a new book and DVD coming out:

The No Helmet Secret

Then he'll be hitting the road with Dr. Wayne and pulling down the big $$$ so he can live on Maui too.

Just having some fun. I actually like Wayne Dyer and a lot of what he has to say. The Secret is OK, it just felt over sold / hyped to me.

It's easy to make fun of this "as a man thinketh" stuff, but there is truth to it. Lots of people have no clue that they are responsible for (and can affect) their own happiness. Happiness is a state of mind / attitude, not merely finding yourself in hoped-for circumstances - it's more internal than external. OK, enough philoso-babble, back to the topic at hand.

For me, wearing a helmet is just part of cycling. A little piece of insurance that MAY save me from a worse injury or death. My feeling is, a helmet might save me from some bad consequences, so why shouldn't I wear it?

But for Fox it's different. For him wearing a helmet is like denying the mojo that's served him most / all of his life. To me it seems silly to hang so much on a helmet, but to Fox it's more than a matter of principle. I wish Fox would wear a helmet because the downside is bad stuff. But when someone feels strongly about something, it's best to get out of their face about it.

I think people get to do what they want as long as it doesnt f with me or others. If someone wants to eat junk food they get too, You reap what you sow, if you die, well its no ones fault but your own Sly. You make people uncomfortable, thats their problem, not yours. I wear a helmet cause I want to. If you dont want too, I have the right to say something, but you have the right not to listen.

Helmets have saved my life at least 5 times. Maybe I brought that upon myself. You wont win with Sly so just leave him alone.
If Sly not wearing a helmet bothers you. I would strongly suggest you never ride with him on the road. Remember he lives in his own little world. Stop lights, Stop signs, those are for the people that live in the real world.

One more aw shuxs a helmet saved my life story.
Back in 92 I crashed on my way down Mount Nebo after collecting the last race result I was ever happy with. I went in to a corner after seeing my computer said 50MPH I slid through that corner and under a truck. I hit hard enough that the helmet ended up in three pieces I was still knocked out and didn’t come to for a couple days. That crash was hard enough I am just now getting so I will go that fast down hills and never started racing seriously till five years ago.

As far as the law off attraction goes back then I would go with out a helmet if I was riding road unless it was a race, as I thought you could never crash on the road and it seamed if I went with out a helmet after getting a new hair cut I would have at least one car load of school girls drive by honking with there shirts up. Aw to be a kid again.

Hey Gary,

To this day I remember hearing about that crash.
I had a similar experience descending in my youth... I guess that I "attracted" a machine-built front wheel to un-lace at 50 MPH..
Sorry Sly... I totally get what you're saying about intention and all, but I swear the last thing on my mind was my wheel coming completely apart in a matter of seconds and landing me STRAIGHT on my head. I truly had no intention of that.

you guys still dont get it, im reading stories about accidents and how i didnt intend this or that. fact is if you jump off a cliff you will fall. same with intention. if it happens then you wanted it to happen. its how laws work, i didnt make the laws, i just know that, thats how they work. its a paradigm shift. peoples brains cant comprehend it. its like how people use to think the world was flat and nobody could comprehend that it was round.

same thing here, come guys its revolution time.

if something happens to you its because you thought it and made it happen.

the world isnt flat so get with it.

So to use the holocaust example again. According to you "Law", Hitler really wasn't a bad guy cuz he was just giving the people what they wanted? The entire cities of Hiroshima/Nagasaki attracted an A-Bomb? All those poor SOB's in Thailand attracted a Tsunami? Um ya.

I could give a shit about wearing a helmet but I think your "Law" has some major holes in it

primetime formerly known as slyfox said...

its not my law, gravity isnt my law. its just there.

you can fight it all you want, its still there and will knock you on your ass.

the world isnt flat, did you guys hear?

Ya, I'm all for 'live and let live.' I certainly have my stubborn points and things that I get called on time and time again-- as well as things I call others on. I appreciate it though. It gives me a chance to evaluate where I'm at and if the decisions I'm making at any given point aren't working, it gives me a chance to change. If I feel like it is working, I've learned the hard way that I need to say f___ and keep living what is my own truth. Even though many don't understand why Sly does what he does, I do respect him so much for doing what is his own to do and living his truth. It is a hard road to go. Not to give in to society. Ohran's comment on Sly living in his own world is beautiful in a way. How many of us can say we do everything we do because we decide to do it, it is our way--not society's way. If something bad does happen because sly doesn't have a helmet on, perhaps there is a lesson for him to learn from it and another sad wake-up call for the rest of us.
