sly vs. speedplay

seems im a lightening rod.

you all knew that already, im talking about legal matters now. its getting personal. so lets put the laundry out to dry.

i call it a free market, free enterprise. buy low, sell high. encourage competition. pat the other guy on the back for doing a good job.

not taking them to court cuz they can, waste time and money to shut the little guy down.

i sell new speed play pedals on the internet. they dont like it, people start crying and feelings get hurt.

hes doin' it why cant i attitude,

ok well go sell your $200 retail pedals to your in person customers, with warranties, service and personal service, it gives them a warm fuzzy feeling inside.

or buy from me, cheaper, no warranty, might get screwed, never seen me so who is this guy on the computer taking my $150.

ya thats the risk of online sales, save money, or possibly get screwed.

speedplay wants to play hard ball with lawyers and courts. go ahead waste your money and squash the small guy.
we'll see if it does you any good

its the usa and you cant shut down free enterprise. i didnt sign your little online "no sales" agreement so try to enforce that.

any thoughts?
please feel free.

sounds like a bunch of BS to me. They're just pissed because smart guys like you can sell their product better than they can.

Yeah, gotta disagree. I love bike shops and msrp(s) are there to keep them in bidness.

I love bike shops to, msrp's are critical to them, but come on, if a shop is being put out of business by ebay, they may need to review their business plan, problem is, most shops will look at you and ask 'what's a business plan?'

Shouldn't we be worrying about things like growing the sport and marketing instead of crushing the little guy? Positivity works wonders, you get what you give.

I'd say you just blew a defense or two with that post alone. Get a lawyer and stick to blogging about bike riding.

Sly, I would say park the bike and go hire yourself Larry Parker "He'll fight for you"!! Little guy or not, Speedplay is pissed off....have you seen the article that came out in Bicyle Retailer??

I'm with you on free enterprise, but slinging speed on e-bay is wrong!

The whole industry is wrong. Idiots paying $2k for wheelsets and 7k for bikes. If people are that stupid to pay that kind of $$ to be pack-filler let them. Others are blue collar riders who can't afford it. "Cycling is the new golf".....i've heard that alot lately. Explain to me how a piece of carbon can cost $2k??? At least Zipps are machine trued.
